Cognitive behavioural therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT is one of the most widely researched and well-established psychological therapies for changing problematic thoughts, feelings & behaviours. CBT incorporates a range of specific cognitive strategies to identify & alter unhelpful thought patterns, as well as evidence- based techniques for behavioural modification & change.

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing

Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic intervention for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other trauma related symptoms. It is an evidence-based treatment endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO). As a person focuses on aspects of their distressing memories bilateral stimulation, like eye movements, has been shown to reduce symptom distress such as intrusive thoughts, feelings and images.

Clinical hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is a process that induces an altered state of consciousness to help change unhelpful behaviours, symptoms and attitudes. Hypnosis is one of the most powerful psychological methods for promoting mental & physical relaxation.  It is useful for anxiety & stress management, promoting personal & professional performance, motivation, ego-strengthening, assertiveness & confidence building.  Primarily, hypnosis is a treatment adjunct used to enhance psychotherapy & counselling goals.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing one's attention to the present moment with curiosity and non-judgement. By becoming more aware of habitual, often unconscious, emotional and physiological reactions to everyday events, mindfulness can help a person respond to life’s pressures in a calmer manner.  Studies have shown that practising mindfulness can help reduce stress & related symptomatology, and is strongly correlated with greater well-being and perceived health.
